It's been a while since we updated things. Some of you may be wondering/worrying what's been happening since our girl's last treatment. Truth is, she hasn't been great, but she's battling.
She’s developed a persistent nausea (we don’t think it’s related to the immunotherapy), which has really affected her appetite (of course), and has led to some weight loss. Additionally, she’s had consistent pain - not debilitating pain - but enough to keep her uncomfortable most of the time. It has affected her sleep, so throw in some fatigue for good measure.
For the universe, Army members, prayer warriors and people who just love Abi - those are the near-term things that we’d love to resolve, so she can get some weight back on her, and her body is getting all the nutrition it needs to eliminate the disease. (Good news - she’s been emesis-free for two days, so we’re making progress.)
Of course, the elimination of the disease is the prayer that’s constantly running in the background, the foreground, and every ground in between…
There have been some good things in the weeks since our last update, as well:
A visit from dear friends from North Carolina.
Lots of time with Ashley, and of course, Presley.
A weekend in the mountains with Chris, Nate, Victoria, Jackie and John - and a hike up (and down) Old Rag - with bears. Seriously - I’m still blown away by this.
An evening of socializing on Friday night with friends and neighbors.
A visit from Kylie.
A beautiful/cool/warm day on the beach, followed up by some pre-wedding landscaping at Jackie and Nate’s, and finally, a fantastic Mother’s Day dinner at their place - which Abi enjoyed.
More this week after our meeting with Dr. McGauhey. In the meantime, the words of the day are nutrition, pain-relief, and rest.
